Origionally the 4268 was build as a Pullman saloncarriage 2nd class without kitchen with the number 4112. It was of the same series as the DSM-Pullman carriage 4129. The carriage was used with the 'Etoile du Nord' between Amsterdam and Paris.

On the frame of the during the war seriously damaged 4112 the restauration carriage with the number 4268 was built at Breda in Milano (Italy). During the same period a total of about a hundred Pullman carriages was converted into restauration carriages. The characteristic oval Pullman windows were replaced by rectangular ones and the Pullman colorscheme by all blue. The 4268 got 36 seats.

The Belgium railroad had another 5 of these carriages, amongst wich the 4168, restored at the Wagon Lits workshop in Oostende in 1986. She was also adapted for speeds up to 160 km/h, replacing the Pennsylvania bogies by Minden Deutz. Other changes were enlarging the kitchen by removing 2 end doors and the balcony. Also airconditioning was installed and the classic bellows were replaced by standard UIC-rubber bellows.

In the orange-white colours these carriages were in service for a number of international connections until 1994.
