Engine 3 is a three-axel tender-locomotive built in 1928 by the Belgian factory Société de la Meuse in Liège. The engine then went to the Oranje Nassaumijnen (Royal Dutch mines) in Heerlen as engine 16 and continued work till 1971.
In 1972 the SGB bought engine 16 from the Oranje Nassaumijnen because it was no longer in service. While she arrived in Goes engine 3 received its name ‘Bison’. This name was used because the Bison factory in Goes enabled the SGB to buy this engine. After a large revision, the engine was put to work on the museum tracks in 1974.
The kettle was replaced in 1994 in the DB-workshop in Meiningen (Germany).
